Dear Ms. Dane,
I'm writing in response to your department-wide memo of November 6th.
Upon review of my schedule, I have to report that ! cannot accommodate your request for at-tending the meeting on the 14th. I have a long-standing commitment on that same afternoon to at-tend the opening ceremony of our new factory in Wichita.
As a consultant, I regret having to miss the meeting, as it's necessary for me to be actively involved in our new advertising campaign. Unfortunately, the president himself insisted that I be present at the upcoming ceremony.
What I propose is a sort of compromise for my absence. Sheila Parks, a junior on our market-ing team, is willing to transcribe the minutes for me so I can review the meeting's content in detail when I return to the office.
